How to create an Author account and get approved to submit manuscripts
New to EIU Journal System?
Author accounts require a one-time application. Your application is reviewed by the editorial team, and once approved, you can start submitting manuscripts immediately.

Verify Your Email
- Go to the EIU Journal System and click Apply as Author
- Enter your email address and click Send Verification Code
- A 6-digit OTP is sent to your inbox — valid for 10 minutes
- Enter the code and click Verify Code

Fill the Application
- Full Name required
- Title / Honorific (Dr., Prof., Mr., Ms., etc.)
- Designation & Country required
- Gender, Date of Birth, EIU Student Number (optional)
- Area of Expertise & Academic Background
- Brief personal statement

Upload & Submit
- CV / Resume — PDF, DOC, DOCX — max 10 MB
- Research Work Sample — PDF, DOC, DOCX — max 10 MB
- Accept the declaration confirming accuracy of information
- Click Submit Application
- Confirmation email sent automatically
- Allow a few business days for review
After approval: You will receive an email when your application is approved. Log in using your registered email — you will have full access to submit manuscripts from the Author Dashboard.

Logging In
Standard email and password — no OTP required for Authors

Go to the Login Page
Navigate to publishing.eiu.ac and click the login link. If you are already logged in, you will be redirected directly to the Author Dashboard.

Select the Author Tab
Click the Author tab (displayed in blue). Do not click the Reviewer tab — this will redirect you to the Reviewer Dashboard.

Enter Email & Password
Enter your registered email address and password. Click Sign In. You will be redirected to the Author Dashboard immediately. Your role is verified server-side and cannot be changed by form manipulation.
No account yet? You must have the EIU Author role to log in. If you see an access-denied page, use the Apply as Author link or contact [email protected].

- My Submissions polls for status changes every 30 seconds automatically
- When your article status changes, a notification slides in: "Article status updated — click to refresh"
- Click the notification to see the updated status — no manual page refresh needed

Submitting a Manuscript
11-step wizard — inline, no redirects
How to start: Click Submit Manuscript in the left sidebar or on the Overview tab. The wizard opens inline. A progress bar and step strip show your current position at all times.

| 03 — Abstract | Write your abstract in the rich text editor (supports bold, italic, headings, lists). Required — cannot advance without entering text. |
| 04 — Categories & Keywords | Select a Subject / Category from the dropdown (required). Add relevant keywords to help reviewers and readers find your work. |
| 05 — Author Details | Name and email are required. When logged in, these are auto-filled from your profile but remain editable. Optionally add author photo (circular avatar), organization, contact number, and country. |
| 06 — Co-Author Details | Add details for each co-author. Click Add Another Co-Author for multiple entries. Leave blank if not applicable. |
| 07 — Advisers | List advisers or supervisors. Click Add Another Adviser for multiples. Fully optional. |
| 08 — Disclosures & Contact | Three required disclosures: (1) Human Participants in Research — select applicable option. (2) Acknowledgements — declare any. (3) Intellectual Property — declare relevant patents or copyrights. |
| 09 — References | Enter reference list in the rich text editor. Optional — advance without references. |
| 10 — Copyright Form | PDF only. Upload your signed Copyright & Author Declaration Form. Drag-drop zone (amber border) or Browse PDF. Must select a file to advance. Use Remove to replace. |

Handling Revision Requests
What to do when the reviewer has requested changes

Receive Email Notification
You receive an email containing the reviewer's detailed revision notes. The notes specify exactly what changes are required.

Find the Action Required Banner
Log in to your Author Dashboard. In My Submissions, find the article with Revision Required status and the Action Required banner. Click Revise & Resubmit.

Review the Feedback
The revision form shows the reviewer's notes at the top of the page for reference throughout your editing session.

Update the Article
Edit title, abstract, categories, author details, or any other fields. Upload a new manuscript file if you revised the document. Updated File is optional — leave blank to keep the existing file.

Submit Your Revision
Click Submit Revision. Article status returns to Under Review. The editorial team is notified. Multiple rounds of revisions are possible.
Published articles cannot be edited. Once published, all editing is permanently locked and the Revise button is replaced with a Read-only badge. Contact [email protected] for corrections on published articles.

Notes
- Email is read-only — contact the system administrator to change your email address
- Name and organization are auto-filled in the Author Details step of every new submission
- Your profile photo appears in the sidebar and top navigation across all pages
- Click Save Profile to apply all changes
- Profile changes do not affect previously submitted articles
